Prace: Holiday apartments and holiday homes

The Mohyla míru is the landmark and natural centre of the protected monument zone of the Slavkov battlefield. It was erected in honour of the victims of the Battle of Slavkov on 2 December 1805. Alois Slovák designed it as a “place of light” and a memorial against wars.

Culture and remembrance

The adjacent museum presents the permanent exhibition “Bitva tří císařů 1805”, which explains the Battle of Slavkov. The “Fenomén Austerlitz” exhibition in the museum pavilion shows how the Battle of Slavkov influenced literature, music and film, and provides information about the tradition of battle reenactments.

Historical traces in Prace

The Baroque Church of Povýšení svatého Kříže was built between 1728 and 1730 from the church’s own funds, replacing a predecessor church that was already in disrepair. It has a central layout with an elongated six-lobed floor plan.

The memorial to the fallen in Prace commemorates 27 inhabitants who died in the First World War from 1914 to 1918. A memorial erected in Prace in 1951 commemorates seven children aged between nine and twelve who died after an antipersonnel mine exploded.

Routes and trails

Cycle route 5097 starts in Prace and runs via Slavkov u Brna and Bučovice to U Kříže. The educational trail dedicated to the Battle of Slavkov includes a section designated PS11 Sokolnice–Prace–Újezd u Brna.

Getting there

Bus route 48 runs from Brno Main Railway Station to the Prace–Mohyla míru stop.
