Mokrá-Horákov: Holiday apartments and holiday homes

Hlásnice is the archaeological site after which the Horákov culture was named. At the same time, traces of a settlement of the Jevišovice culture have been documented there. In 1892, a richly furnished Hallstatt-period burial mound was also excavated there.

Culture and history

Horákov Castle, also called Horákovský hrad, is an abandoned castle. Its remains lie on a rocky promontory above the Mariánské údolí valley. The fortified complex of Horákovský hrad stands on this rocky promontory with three ditches; the inner ditch is carved into the rock.

The Chapel of Saint Barbara is a listed building and is no longer used for religious purposes. It is also the oldest building in Mokrá and was probably built at the beginning of the 19th century. The Chapel of Saint Gothard was declared a cultural monument in 1996.

Pacherův kříž is a large wooden cross on a rock in the forest above the Říčka between the Mokrá forester’s lodge and Jelínkův mlýn. Masses are held at Pacherův kříž every year in June.

Views and landscape

The Rozhledna Mokrá-Horákov observation tower stands on the flat Skalky hill at an elevation of 362 metres on the northern edge of Mokrá. It is open to the public all year round. In clear weather, the view extends as far as Pálava.

Nature

The Údolí Říčky Nature Reserve protects a geomorphologically valuable karst area in Devonian limestone, as well as near-natural forest and forest-steppe communities. It covers the cadastral area of Mokrá u Brna. Sivický les lies between Mokrá-Horákov and Sivice on the southern edge of the Moravian Karst.

Pekárna Cave, formerly also called Kostelík or Díravica, lies in the cadastral area of the municipality of Mokrá-Horákov and is designated a protected cultural monument of the Czech Republic. From Ochoz u Brna, it can be reached via a blue-marked hiking trail over a distance of approximately 2 kilometres.

Leisure

Koupaliště Mokrák has an outdoor swimming pool during the summer season. Koupaliště Mokrák includes a paddling pool, water slides and a playground. Beach volleyball and table tennis are also available there.

Trails

The Mitrovských Chapel can be reached via an approximately 2.2-kilometre-long red-marked hiking trail from the Mariánské údolí stop.
