Strhaře: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Padělky is a natural monument with an unusual occurrence of xerothermic and calciphilous species on calcareous subsoil at a relatively high altitude. Protected and endangered plant species occur there, including the snowdrop anemone (Anemone silvestris), common columbine (Aquilegia vulgaris), lady's slipper orchid (Cypripedium calceolus), lesser butterfly orchid (Platanthera bifolia) and sword-leaved helleborine (Cephalanthera ensifolia).

History and Wayside Crosses

Strhaře was first mentioned in writing in 1390. From the end of the 14th century, the village was associated with the Lomnice estate.

The village square is home to the Chapel of Our Lady of the Rosary, dating from 1856. Next to the chapel stands an undated cast-iron cross. Near the former school stands a marble cross donated by Marie Pařízková in 1912. In Žleby, a marble cross commemorates the tragic death of František; it was donated in 1927 by the Nekouš family from Osiky. Another marble cross stands in Žleby at the turnoff to Osiky. Next to the field path to Osiky there is also an old, undated cast-iron cross that was damaged by lightning. A sandstone cross stands next to the field path to Rašov.

Church and the Yearly Cycle

In the surrounding area is the Church of St Stanislav, with a cemetery serving Strhaře and three other nearby villages. Also in the vicinity of Strhaře, at the site of the original church, stands a large statue of Saint Stanislav, hidden on a rock deep in the forest.

The pilgrimage to Our Lady of the Rosary takes place in Strhaře on the second Sunday in October. In winter, the village observes the tradition of Masopust. At the Strhaře recreation area there is a pergola that provides shelter from the sun and rain during events.
