Odrovice: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Odrovice is defined by its architecture, paths and landscape. The architectural landmark of the village is the Church of Our Lady, Help of Christians. It is listed as a monument of local significance and is a Neo-Romanesque building dating from 1900.

Culture

Next to the church stands a statue of Saint John of Nepomuk, which is registered as an immovable cultural monument. It is a valuable Baroque sculpture from 1772 by the Moravian sculptor Ondřej Schweigl. The statue stands on an architecturally distinctive plinth surrounded by a stone balustrade.

At the southern edge of Odrovice stands a wayside chapel registered as an immovable cultural monument. It dates from the second half of the 18th century and is a late Baroque, triangular-plan building with three narrow niches and a three-sided pyramidal roof covered with beaver-tail tiles. It is topped by an equal-armed cross with wrought-iron plant decoration.

The Boží muka wayside chapel in Odrovice is a late Gothic monument dating from 1521 and is considered an exceptionally valuable cultural monument. Its significance lies both in its artistic execution and in the historical memory of the landscape. The chapel features figural decoration depicting Saint Andrew, the Mount of Olives and the Crucifixion. A relief panel has been preserved on it; the console beneath the only surviving sculpture, that of Saint Andrew, is architecturally designed rather than figural.

Getting Around

Cycle Route No. 5171, the Brno Wine Trail, passes through Odrovice; the signposted cycle path is designated as the Uherčice–Těšany section of this route. Road II/395 also passes through Odrovice. No signposted hiking trail passes through Odrovice or its cadastral area.

In the Potůček fishing district, fishing from publicly accessible locations is permitted in the section near Odrovice.

Nature

Parts of the cadastral area of Odrovice lie within the Niva Jihlavy Nature Park; the park also extends into the cadastral area of Odrovice and includes an approximately 8 km-long, flat valley floor of the Jihlava.

The Niva Jihlavy Nature Park is characterised by the naturally meandering Jihlava River. It serves to protect the character of the landscape while also allowing for appropriate tourism and recreation.
