Lomnice: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Lomnice combines a distinctive town centre with Jewish history, castle history and paths through the game park. At the centre of the heritage zone is a square with a church, a town hall and a Baroque Marian column.

Culture and Local History

Lomnice Castle is currently home to the vocational school SOU a SOŠ SČMSD s.r.o. It is open to the public during European Heritage Days. The castle was preceded by a fortress; the earliest known owner of the town of Lomnice is said to have been Oldřich z Lomnice, who was mentioned as early as 1265.

After extensive reconstruction, the Lomnice synagogue reopened for cultural purposes in 1997. Today, it frequently hosts exhibitions and a wide range of cultural events. Another place of remembrance is the Jewish cemetery in Lomnice: it is freely accessible and contains more than 1,000 gravestones dating from the 18th to the 20th century. The oldest surviving gravestone dates from 1716. The cemetery grounds also include a mortuary with an exhibition on the history of the Jews of Lomnice.

Educational Trails and Game Park

The Járy Cimrmana educational trail follows the yellow hiking trail markings from Lomnice to a forester’s hut below Mount Sýkoř. Its starting point is at the Nohy Járy Cimrmana sculpture by the bus stop on Lomnice Square. The final stop, Pohlaví Járy Cimrmana, features an idealised representation of Cimrman.

Visitors and tourists can also walk the Obora Lomnice educational trail in the Lomnice game park. The main cycle route Pražská runs through the game park.

Beer Trail and Brewery

The Tišnovská Beer Trail is 11.5 km long, takes 3.5 hours and has an elevation gain of 237 m. It ends at Lomnice bus station; from there, it is possible to continue to Brno with a change in Tišnov. The highlight at the end of the Tišnovská Beer Trail is Lomnice.

In Lomnice, the Genius-Noci Brewery offers brewery tours for groups of ten or more by prior telephone arrangement.
