Kovalovice: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes
A prominent historical site in Kovalovice is Stará Pošta. The preserved historic post station was established in 1785 as a relay station between Brno and Vyškov and is directly connected with the Battle of Austerlitz.
Culture and History
At Stará Pošta, you can visit the restored interiors of the post station and a small museum exhibition. In the Stará Pošta district, you will also find the so-called Ruská kaplička. It was allegedly built in 1851 by a Russian noblewoman after the Napoleonic Wars; presumably, one or two of her relatives, officers of the Russian nobility, are buried there. The chapel was restored in 1995.
Kovalovice is home to the Chapel of Saints Peter and Paul, located on the site of a former bell tower dating from 1826. The former fortress complex from the mid-16th century is also part of the village's history. It was later used as a manorial farm, school, and inn, and today houses the Na Tvrzi restaurant and a cultural facility.
