Pozořice is home to the Baroque parish church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary, completed in 1724.

Culture and History

The remains of the Gothic Vildenberk Castle lie outside Pozořice’s built-up area. A tourist shelter stands below them, and the existing hiking trail markings have also been renewed. The former chateau in Pozořice is one of the municipality’s important cultural heritage sites.

Nature and Trails

Poustka is a distinctive conglomerate hill with a variety of biotopes and has been listed as a significant landscape feature since 2000. Poustka has four information boards and benches, as well as views of the Hostýnské vrchy hills and the church in Pozořice. The Poustka nature trail is less than 1 km long and features five information boards about the local living and non-living nature, history, and landscape development.

The Rékoví nature trail begins on the road from Pozořice to Viničné Šumice, at the crossing with the Koválovický potok stream at the edge of the forest.

Landscape

Mixed forests cover the northern part of the Pozořice municipal area, which accounts for approximately two-thirds of its total area. When there is snow cover, they are suitable for skiing trips; in summer, they are ideal for walks, cycling trips, and mushroom picking.

Pozořice is a starting point for visiting Říčky Nature Park and the Moravský kras Protected Landscape Area. The Urban and Stádla hills are located in the surrounding area. The Velká Baba hill [Sivice] is also nearby.

The wider region around Pozořice offers several destinations with different characteristics: Kuchlov and Hrádek are ruins, Zoo Brno is a zoo, Vinohrady is a mountain, and Zámek Veveří is a castle.
