Štítary: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Štítary is a starting point for holidaymakers heading to the beaches on the Vranov Reservoir and to the holiday home settlements located along the reservoir. Southwest of Štítary, Vranovská pláž and the dam form a recreational area. The grounds of Vranovská pláž offer sports and recreational facilities. The recreational area around the Vranov Reservoir is a major tourist destination that influences life in Štítary during the summer months and is expected to continue doing so in the future.

Water and Trails

The Vranovská pláž area extends across three cadastral territories: Štítary na Moravě, Onšov na Moravě and Vranov nad Dyjí. Marked long-distance and local cycle routes run through the municipality of Štítary. There are also marked hiking trails in the municipality of Štítary.

Nature

The Orlí hnízdo Nature Monument is located in the cadastral territory of Štítary and covers 15.7505 hectares. Its conservation objectives include low xerothermic shrub communities with species of the genus Cotoneaster, Hercynian oak-hornbeam forests, scree forests, fissure vegetation on silicate rocks and in rock scree, mobile scree slopes made of silicate rock, and rock vegetation with Festuca pallens. Protected insects include the critically endangered clouded apollo Parnassius mnemosyne, the endangered stag beetle Lucanus cervus and the endangered great capricorn beetle Cerambyx cerdo.

Culture and Townscape

The tower of St. George’s Church houses three bells. The present high altar of St. George’s Church was acquired in 1893. House No. 49 is an original farmstead with a granary.
