Sumna: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Šumná is surrounded by forests on the edge of Podyjí National Park and is a starting point for accessing the Vranovsko recreational area. At the same time, the village lies at a road junction with connections from Vranovská Ves to Lesná and Znojmo, as well as to Vranov nad Dyjí and Bítov.

Nature and Trails

From Šumná, the ruins of Šimberk Castle can be reached on foot in less than an hour. Cycle route No. 5007 Jaroslavice–Znojmo–Uherčice also passes through the village. Vlkov Pond is also known as Šimperák.

History

Šumná was founded in 1798 on cleared woodland. Šenkenberk Castle was probably founded at the beginning of the 13th century and was first mentioned in 1325 in a document issued by King John of Luxembourg. The remains of the surrounding walls and ramparts have been preserved. The nearby ruins are freely accessible and have been protected as a cultural monument since 1958.

Kostel Svatého Ducha Church

The Kostel Svatého Ducha Church in Šumná was designed by the Brno architect Marek Štěpán and received the Club for Old Prague Award in 2010. Outside the stated services, it can be visited by prior arrangement and with a short guided tour. The church has space for 100 people, including 50 seats.
