Podmyče: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Podmyče lies in a valley and is predominantly surrounded by agricultural land. Southeast of Podmyče, the western boundary of Podyjí National Park begins at the Czech–Austrian state border. From there, the national park’s forests are only a few kilometres away to the east, via the neighbouring town of Vranov nad Dyjí.

History and Village Culture

Podmyče was first mentioned in historical records on 28 September 1323. The history of Podmyče has always been closely connected with its affiliation to the Vranov estate.

The Chapel of St Margaret in Podmyče was built in 1721; it is a single-nave brick building.

The Posvícení festival in Podmyče is celebrated on the first Saturday and Sunday in October. Lime burning was a historic activity of the local population in Podmyče.

Cycling and Hiking Trails

The Vranov–Hardegg cycle route reaches the junction towards Podmyče, turns onto a field track before the village and continues to Felling. It is marked with green signs bearing a white flower.

The six-hour hiking route “Getting to Know Our Neighbours” leads from Vranov nad Dyjí via Podmyče to Felling.

The 53-kilometre cycling tour “Castles and Chateaux of the Czech–Austrian Border Region” follows the road towards Podmyče, but does not pass through the village; instead, at the junction it continues towards Šafov with a short detour.
