Volfířov: Apartments and Holiday Homes

Olšina u Volfířova was first designated as a protected area on December 10, 1987. The area protects a spring and stream alder forest with an abundant occurrence of spring snowflakes, as well as populations of rare animal and plant species associated with the pond ecosystem.

Culture and History

The Church of St. Peter and Paul in Volfířov is an oriented single-nave building within the former cemetery grounds, which are surrounded by a wall. It was originally Early Gothic and dates from around 1300; its west façade and tower were built in 1767.

The Evangelical Tolerance Complex in Velká Lhota, a district of Volfířov, comprises two churches and two adjoining rectories. It is a state-protected monument. The complex also contains a permanent exhibition entitled “The Czech Reformation in the European Context.”

At the Evangelical Tolerance Complex in Velká Lhota, an educational trail meets the “Waldensian and Czech Reformation Trail.” Its middle section around Velká Lhota has already been marked and equipped with information panels.

The former Chapel of the Virgin Mary is located on the upper floor of Řečice Castle. Řečice Castle is not open to the public.

Routes and Activities

The Dačice–Volfířov route is easy and suitable for trekking and mountain bikes. For this hiking route, it is recommended to reach Velká Lhota by bus.

Construction of the infrastructure for a multipurpose sports field has been completed in Volfířov.
