Bednárec: Holiday Apartments and Houses

From the upper part of the village, Kopec, in Bednárec, there are views of the Jindřichohradecko and Kamenicko regions. The Kopec viewpoint also offers views of the Novohrad Mountains and the Bohemian Forest. In exceptionally clear conditions, the Alps can also be seen from Kopec.

Nature and Landscape

The Lipina protected area lies along the banks of the meanders of the Žirovnička stream in Bednárec. Lipina is a natural monument in the South Bohemian Region. The area was established to protect a primeval lime-oak forest typical of warmer locations in the Bohemian-Moravian Highlands.

East of Bednárec, a cascade of four ponds lies in the Černý les forest. It comprises Jílků malý, Šedivů, Obecní velký, and Obecní malý. Measures at Obecní velký pond increased its water-retention capacity and biodiversity in its immediate surroundings. Two pools with adjacent wetlands were created at the edge of Obecní velký pond.

Culture and History

The Chapel of Our Lady stands in the village square of Bednárec; it was built there in 1795. The Chapel of Our Lady in Bednárec has a polygonal bell tower topped with an onion dome.

The Pietà of Bednárec is a late Gothic wooden sculpture created at the beginning of the 16th century. It remains the property of the municipality of Bednárec and is part of the permanent exhibition in Hluboká.

On the road from Jarošov nad Nežárkou to Bednárec, a reconciliation stone stands before Bednárec. It is believed to mark the presumed grave of a man and a woman from the Swedish Wars.

Village Character

A railway line runs on an embankment several metres high directly above the village square of Bednárec.
