Nová Hlína: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Nová Hlína can be explored along two clear lines: the history of the flood bridges and the cycle paths through the pond landscape.

History by the Water

A look back takes us to 1827: the imprint of the stable cadastre recorded approximately 15 farmsteads in Nová Hlína.

Two historic stone flood bridges stand near Stará Hlína. They were built by the Schwarzenbergs in 1781 and 1799. Since 1958, both have been technical monuments of the Czech Republic. Today, the historic flood bridges are used exclusively by pedestrians and cyclists, and no longer by regular road traffic. The five-arch flood bridge was repaired after the 2002 floods and reopened to the public in 2004.

The Pond Landscape around Nová Hlína

Nová Hlína is located in the immediate vicinity of Rožmberk Pond. Rožmberk is the largest pond in the Czech Republic. Its dam crest is 2,430 metres long, and 150- to 400-year-old oak trees stand on the dam.

Cycle Paths and Connections

The Okolo Třeboně educational cycle trail runs through the village square of Nová Hlína. Since spring 2017, a cycle path has been open connecting Třeboň with Nová Hlína and Stará Hlína. The cycle path begins in Třeboň at Na Kopečku and leads safely to Stará Hlína. After it opened, the Třeboň–Nová Hlína cycle path was used by people.

Cyclists can reach Stará Hlína from Nová Hlína either via the village square and past Vítek Pond or via the historic stone flood bridge. The cycle route “K rybníkům a pískovnám na Třeboňsku” runs over the dam crest of Vítek Pond to Nová Hlína. From Nová Hlína, the route follows the blue-marked trail through the forest to the Chapel of St. Vitus.
