Architectural heritage and history

Pluhův Žďár can be explored through its architectural history. Pluhův Žďár Castle is a protected cultural monument. The castle site was first mentioned in written records in 1267; at that time, it was owned by Oldřich Pluh z Rabštejna. The castle courtyard contains rare Baroque frescoes created by the painter František Resch in 1718.

The former chapel of the Church of the Nativity of the Virgin Mary was built over a spring in 1542; the water from the spring was believed to have miraculous powers. In 1717, it was extended by a nave and its tower was raised. The Church of the Nativity of the Virgin Mary has a single nave and is not oriented, with a north-facing, three-sided closed presbytery and a projecting prismatic tower. It was rebuilt again in 1861.

Cycle paths

A 25 km route starts and ends in Deštná. The “Přes památky do pohádky” cycle circuit also passes through Pluhův Žďár. The themed circuit is suitable for families with children and presents historical monuments in a playful fairy-tale format.
