Zahrádky: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

The sculptures in the village were created during the International Zahrádky Woodcarving Symposium 2000. A stone fountain stands in a central public square in Zahrádky, and since 2003 there has been an accessible stone sundial in front of the municipal building.

Culture and History

The Umrlčí cesta was once the route taken by the funeral procession from Zahrádky to the cemetery in Palupín, which is why it was given this name. Construction of the Evangelical church in Zahrádky began in 1901; it was completed in 1903.

Nature and Historical Sites

The Korytník pond lies above Skuhrův mlýn Mill in Zahrádky. The mill was probably a manorial mill and belonged to the Jindřichův Hradec estate.

The Kalcův vrch and Křemení hills are located in the immediate vicinity of Zahrádky. The surrounding area also includes the Za Vrškem and Babí hora hills, the ruins of Janštejn, Roštejn Castle, and the Church of Svatý Ondřej. Further afield in the region around Zahrádky lies Landštejn Castle.

Walking Routes

The route is comfortable and also well suited to pushchairs and people with reduced mobility. A walk from Zahrádky to Horní Dvorce crosses the Hamerský potok stream before it flows into Dvorecký rybník pond. A walk in Zahrádky leads close to the biocorridor along the Hamerský potok stream.

A southern walk begins at the Na Šafranici bus stop and follows a green-marked hiking route to Palupín.
