Dešná U Dačic: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

The VALORY riding facility offers children the opportunity to ride ponies. Another focal point is the historic architecture of Dešná, above all the Church of St John the Baptist.

Culture and History

The Church of St John the Baptist in Dešná is a late Gothic building constructed in 1494. It has a Renaissance vestibule and a Baroque side chapel. It also includes a pentagonal presbytery and a slender tower with an onion dome and lantern. The tower houses a bell dating from 1524.

The Baroque Chapel of the Holy Cross, built in 1739, stands in the cemetery. The listed houses Nos. 3 to 8 feature late Empire-style, semicircular gateways. A wayside niche chapel from the early 19th century stands on the road to Rancířov, while houses Nos. 23 and 24 are examples of local folk architecture.

Cycling and Activities

Maps of the cycling routes, including the lengths of the individual circuits and routes and their elevation profiles, are available at the local information centre. The marked cycle paths on the Czech side connect to appropriately signposted cycle paths in Austria. The marked cycle paths in Dešná make it possible to take excursions to numerous interesting places. The Prague–Vienna Greenways are among the cross-border cycle routes in the border region.

Demonstrations of firefighting operations also include a presentation of equipment, including historic equipment.
