Vitějovice: Holiday apartments and holiday homes

In Vitějovice, Baroque architectural history meets a preserved mill on the Zlatý potok. This village setting is complemented by natural areas, a hiking trail and a cycling loop.

Culture and history

The present-day Church of St Margaret stands in Vitějovice’s village square. It is a Baroque building erected on the site of an older church. Its construction period extended from 1743 to 1746; the church dates from 1743.

Below Vitějovice, on the left bank of the Zlatý potok, stands the preserved Panský Mill, also known as Bürgrův Mill. The Zlatý potok is a right-bank tributary of the Blanice. The associated millrace is approximately 750 metres long and runs along the eastern edge of Vitějovice.

In the wider regional surroundings of Vitějovice lies Chlumany, a site designated as an ancient archaeological site. The history of the nearby area also includes Osule Castle, of which the remains of the palace walls and the lower sections of two massive round towers have been preserved. A restored monument stands at a crossroads where five armies met in 1945.

Nature and landscape

The mountains of Libín, Volovický vrch, Rohanovský vrch and Vrata are located around Vitějovice. The Kralovické louky Nature Reserve is another natural attraction in Vitějovice.

Paths and tours

For cyclists, “Na Zlatý potok a hrad Osule” is designated as a cycling loop of approximately 40 kilometres. A blue hiking trail leads from Vitějovice to Husinec and has a short branch leading to the ruins of Osule. This brings together local history, landscape and activity in various forms, without the individual destinations losing their distinctive character.
