Velký Ratmírov: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Velký Ratmírov combines a local history dating back to 1420 with distinctive traces of the cultural landscape and several routes through the surrounding area. The first written mention of Velký Ratmírov dates from 1420. White glass was produced below the village.

History and Culture

The largest of several historic fires occurred in 1908 and affected a total of 44 buildings, including 21 farmsteads, 22 houses and a chapel. A special reminder of the local cultural history is provided by the Boží muka wayside shrines: they stand beyond a railway crossing at the edge of the forest and bear carved inscriptions. Behind the railway keeper’s house on the far side of the railway line, the Boží muka are registered as an immovable cultural monument under the designation ÚSKP 20172/3-2368.

Landscape

In the area around Velký Ratmírov, ponds and forests are classified as significant landscape elements under Czech Act No. 114/1992 Sb.

Routes and Water

Cycle Route No. 1148 passes through Velký Ratmírov and continues to Studnice. The cycling tour “Přes památky do pohádky” runs from Studnice via Velký Ratmírov to Svatá Barbora. A walking route is described that leads from Jindřichův Hradec via Obora, Velký Ratmírov and the lookout tower on Rýdův kopec back to Jindřichův Hradec.

The area around Velký Ratmírov is suitable for walking trips and water sports. When approaching from Děbolín, a turn-off to the left at the edge of the village leads to the bathing area; approximately 200 metres of unpaved track must then be covered. Because the track can become waterlogged, it is recommended to leave the car by the road or in the village.

The general public was invited to a Christmas bathing event in Velký Ratmírov; participation was free of charge.
