Tvrzice: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

The local history of Tvrzice is particularly reflected in the Farmstead No. 7: it is protected as a cultural monument of the Czech Republic, has an originally yellow-and-blue gable, and is attributed to the folk master builder Jakub Bursa. The building dates from his heyday between 1860 and 1862.

Culture and Architectural History

The historic buildings also include Farmstead No. 11 with a winged volute gable and a folk-style painting. The former fortress stands next to Farmyard No. 7 on a rise near the northern side of the village square. The former fortress, the associated plots of land, and the surrounding wall are protected.

Two coat-of-arms plaques and an inscription plaque were subsequently set into the south wall of the former fortress, which faces the village side. Another historic building is Farmstead No. 9: it was formerly an inn and has since been converted. At the same time, it is a preserved part of what was originally a large farmstead and comprises a residential building, a surrounding wall, and a representative gate. This gate is crowned by a statue dated 1807, depicting a bearded old man in ecclesiastical attire with a papal tiara.

Landscape

The Volovický vrch mountain is located in the vicinity of Tvrzice. The wider regional area also includes the Včelenský vrch, Libín, and Boubín mountains. The Radomysl Mediumwave Radio Mast ruins and the ancient site of Chlumany are also located there.

Route

The “In the Footsteps of Jakub Bursa” route leads via Bohunice and Tvrzice back to Vlachovo Březí.
