Culture and history

The Chapel of Saint John of Nepomuk was probably built in the second half of the 19th century. It has a rectangular floor plan, a three-sided chancel and a tower on the western façade. The chapel preserves contemporary furnishings that are a remarkable example of the sculpture, painting and craftsmanship of the period.

The chapel has two cast-iron crosses on stone pedestals. In front of the chapel, both crosses are protected as part of the chapel monument preservation.

The writer František X. Jiřík, who wrote under the pseudonym František Hradecký, was born in Třebějice in 1867. Archaeological finds of urns and pottery shards are considered evidence of the ancient foundation of Třebějice.

Landscape and location

At 500 m, Třebějická hůrka is the highest point in Třebějice. The village pond Zájezek is one of the places with a preserved landscape character, as is the valley of the Dírenský stream.

Třebějice lies 2 km northwest of Dírná in a picturesque and peaceful setting away from the main Soběslav traffic route.

A pilgrimage takes place in Třebějice in May on Saint John's Day.
