Obora combines a family brewery, Cycle Route No. 12 and designated ecological structures. Family brewery, hops and art

Rodinný pivovar Obora has been operating since 2015 at the Novák family farm in Obora, near Želeč by Tábor. The brewery brews mainly with its own hops and malt. On a tour, you can discover the brewery and hop garden and taste the beer. As tour arrangements may vary, confirm the details with the operator before your arrival.

The design of the seating area also gives the brewery visit a distinctive touch: paintings by local artist František Boháč and other artists hang there. This brings together an insight into the brewing process and a tangible connection to local art.

The brewery is accessible by car, and parking is available in front. If you’re arriving by car, check the parking situation when you arrive.

Cycle route and ecological structures

A municipal plan from March 2008 describes Cycle Route No. 12 as an existing, mapped route. It runs from the south through Obora and Maršov to Lom, where it connects to Cycle Route No. 11. It is also part of the Greenway Rožmberského dědictví. If you’re planning to use the route for a ride, check the current route and trail conditions in advance.

The ecological structures include two functioning local biocentres. LBC 1003 “Oborský potok” covers 3.17 hectares in Obora u Maršova. LBC 1005 “Pod Lesem” covers 2.28 hectares and extends into the cadastral area of Želeč u Tábora. The two sites can be distinguished by their names and areas; the location named for the second biocentre also extends into another cadastral area.

For the biocorridors, length and section status are important distinctions. LBK 15-x is 420 metres long, runs through Čenkov u Malšic and Obora u Maršova, and continues into the cadastral area of Bezděčín. LBK 1414 “Oborský potok” runs through Obora u Maršova and also continues into Bezděčín. Of this corridor, 1,150 metres are designated as functioning and 1,090 metres as non-functioning. Unlike the biocentres, the corridors are therefore described by their length and the classification of their sections.

Everyday history nearby

The nearby former granary, Špejchar Želeč, houses an almost complete collection of agricultural machinery used in the past. It includes old wagons, threshing machines, ploughs and harnesses, as well as toys, wicker prams and other objects that illustrate everyday life in rural households. The collection thus brings together work tools and everyday items. Unlike the brewery, where beer and brewery tours take centre stage, the collection focuses on agricultural work and domestic life.
