Stachy: Holiday apartments and holiday homes

Stachy reveals several facets of a locality: a historically shaped townscape, sacred buildings, local firefighting history and routes into nature.

Townscape and sacred history

Most of the buildings in the Stachy heritage conservation reserve date from the 17th to the 19th century. In the eastern part of the municipality of Stachy, there is also an ensemble of partly timber-framed Šumava-type houses designated as a reserve.

The Church of the Visitation of the Virgin Mary was built between 1842 and 1849. It contains a crystal chandelier commemorating Stachy’s glassmaking past. The Baroque Chapel of Our Lady of Sorrows dates from 1808.

Local history in the museum

The Pošumavské Fire Museum in Stachy displays fire engines, fire pumps, uniforms, historical firefighting technology and equipment across two floors. Its exhibition on the history of Stachy also features craft tools, historical objects and items from Stachy and the surrounding area.

Nature and trails

Malý Polec is a raised bog below Churáňovský vrch at an altitude of 1,108 to 1,183 metres, approximately 1 kilometre from Zadov. Since 1992, Malý Polec has been protected as a natural monument to safeguard endangered plants and animals. From Zadov, the raised bog can be reached via a tourist trail towards Zlatá Studna.

Stašské Square is the starting point for numerous tourist trails. The lawn of the square by the church in Stachy is also a protected locality for boletes.

Winter sports

The Zadov-Churáňov ski resort has seven predominantly easy to moderately difficult slopes with a total length of 4.5 kilometres.
