Malé Chrášťany: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Malé Chrášťany presents its historically influenced villagescape with a wayside niche chapel and several enclosed farmsteads. At the southern edge of the village stands the niche chapel of St. Adalbert, a small brick structure with a rectangular floor plan. Šebestián Brenner built it between 1860 and 1862; it faces south. The chapel also served as a place for the final farewell to the deceased.

Culture and History

The enclosed farmstead at Malé Chrášťany No. 3 has a two-gabled rustic Baroque façade with a gate and wicket opening onto the village square. Its buildings are grouped around a courtyard.

The enclosed farmstead at Malé Chrášťany No. 4 is likewise characterised by a two-gabled rustic Baroque façade with a gate and wicket opening onto the village square; its buildings are grouped around a courtyard. It includes a granary with a rustic Baroque gable and adjoining stables. The granary is connected to the residential building by an enclosing wall with a gate and wicket. The Baroque farmstead at Malé Chrášťany No. 4 (Boží Oko 1) was remodelled in 1850 from a medieval wooden log house; the work was carried out by Šebastian Brenner.

No. 5 is located on the west side of the village square. It has a two-gabled rustic Baroque façade with an integrated gate and wicket facing the village square.

Landscape and Cycling

Malé Chrášťany is one of the central villages in the region historically known as Zbudovská Blata. The landscape of this region is flat and connected by a network of cycle paths.

Cycle route No. 1083 from Plástovice to Břehov passes through Malé Chrášťany. The “Kolem Pištína na Blata” circular cycle route also runs here. It is approximately 24 km long, is considered easy, and is aimed primarily at families with children and senior citizens.

A scheduled bus from České Budějovice to Sedlec runs as far as Malé Chrášťany.
