In Borek, water, forest, and history come together. The Koupaliště Borek natural swimming area is located on U Studánky Street in Borek, directly beside Mojský les and the Kyselá voda stream.

Water and Forest

At Koupaliště Borek, water quality is maintained by biological filter lagoons without chemical additives. The facility includes a paddling pool and a children’s playground; larger visitors can enjoy a natural pool with a depth of up to 3.6 metres, a bathing jetty, and a diving tower. At the edge of the Mojský les forest complex near the terminus, there are paths for hiking.

Natural Area

The Orty natural monument also includes the cadastral area of Borek u Českých Budějovic. The Orty mine complex covers an area of approximately 12 hectares and comprises underground tunnels with a total length of more than 5.6 kilometres.

Local History

Borek originally developed as a mining settlement. The former Schwarzenberg inn for travellers, No. 1, is a Classicist building dating from 1815 to 1816. Near the Borek municipal office stands a simple wooden bell tower made of two posts.

Forest paths with embankments and cuttings in the area around Borek are reminders of the former steam-powered forest railway. After the devastating storm of 1916, a steam-powered forest railway was built to remove windthrown timber; it operated until approximately 1921.

Borek is served by the public transport bus lines of České Budějovice. Bus connections to Borek are integrated into a unified fare zone.
