In the centre of Vráto stands the Chapel of Saint Wenceslas. The chapel and the adjoining grounds are protected as heritage sites. As a rendered rectangular solid structure, it has a tower topped by a lantern, an onion dome, a finial and a cross.
Culture and History
Vráto has been documented under the German name Brod since 1375. The settlement was founded at the intersection of a main road from České Budějovice and an abandoned road to Dubičné. Historic mines were located in the wider area around Vráto, including Dvanácti tisíc rytířů, Boží dar and Zlatý lev.
Water and Landscape
The Vrátecký potok flows through Vráto. It is a small right-bank tributary of the Dobrovodský potok. The Borovanský vrch mountain (Borovany-Dvorec u Třebče) is located in the surroundings of Vráto, while the Skalka mountain lies in the wider regional area. The Baba hill (Jivno) and the Výhon hill (České Budějovice-Třebotovice) are also located nearby.
