Chotýčany combines a village square considered an urban-planning asset with protected historic buildings, a forest nature trail and signposted cycling routes.

Historic Village Centre

The former inn No. 17 in Chotýčany, together with its gate, barn and stable, is protected as a historic monument and is probably the oldest surviving building in the village. The protected Chapel of Saint John of Nepomuk stands on the village square next to building No. 17. It includes a statue on a tall Baroque pedestal dating from the second half of the 18th century. The Chapel of Saint Wenceslas is also located in Chotýčany; it was consecrated on 28 September 1882.

The village square in Chotýčany is considered an urban-planning asset; its use is subject to the requirements for the design of a historic public space. A Masopustní průvod procession with a masked event for adults takes place regularly in Chotýčany.

Nature and Nature Trail

The Chotýčany nature trail is a forest trail with information panels about the local natural environment; additional information panels extended it into a circular route. The trail focuses on, or enables visitors to observe, animals, birds, insects, butterflies, fungi, flowers and trees of the local forest. The Chotýčany nature trail is not suitable for pushchairs.

Chotýčany's registered significant landscape features include the Roklina Strouhy ravine and an oak tree on the western edge of the village. In favourable weather, the view from Chotýčany village square reaches as far as the Šumava region, including the summit of Boubín.

Cycling Routes and Regional Context

Signposted cycle route 1058 runs through Chotýčany along the Hluboká–Dobřejovice–Chotýčany–Vitín route. Cycle route 1054 leads from Chotýčany along the road towards Lhotice. Chotýčany is also a partner municipality in the Budějovicko tourism area.

Railway and Location

A single-track, electrified railway line between Prague and České Budějovice runs through Chotýčany. Chotýčany railway station is located approximately 1.5 kilometres north of the village.
