Lhota: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Lhota combines a distinctive village character with a multifaceted history and protected wetlands. A triangular village square defines the settlement; it is complemented by farmsteads in the folk architectural style of the Blata region and notable traces of past centuries.

Village Character and History

The oldest written records of Lhota date from the 14th century. A later historical turning point is associated with the Záblatský rybník: the former village of Německá Lhota was flooded when the pond was enlarged in 1580–1582.

Lhotský Dvůr also bears witness to turbulent times. The entire manor farm was destroyed during the Thirty Years' War before the Schwarzenbergs rebuilt it in stone in 1693. A sheep pen had already been added there in 1613 under the Švamberks. The village landscape also features Farmstead No. 11 in Lhota u Dynína, notable for its façade and prominent arched frieze.

Among the smaller historical features are two wayside crosses: a cross dating from 1905 stands on the road to Lhotský Dvůr, and another on the road to Chudobinec.

Nature and Wetlands

Hliníř is part of the Hliníř–Ponědrážka area. The protected area preserves a valuable transitional mire ecosystem with protected and endangered plant species and fauna adapted to this habitat, particularly invertebrates. The Hliníř protected area is not open to the public.

The Lhota u Dynína natural monument covers 7.25 hectares and protects waterlogged peat meadows with rare and protected woody species. It consists mainly of waterlogged meadows and the adjacent southeastern shore of Bošilec pond, which lies about 500 m from Lhota u Dynína.

A field path accessible to the public all year round provides access to the Lhota u Dynína natural monument. Black-necked grebes, greylag geese and gadwalls breed there in the marginal areas of the pond.

Route Through the Pond Landscape

The 66 km cycling route “Rožmberská vodní díla – Zelená severní cyklotrasa” passes through Záblatí, Lhota and Bošilec.
