Komarice: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

History

Komařice Castle was built between 1565 and 1566, when Jiří Kořenský z Těrešova had the original moated castle rebuilt. The Renaissance castle, converted from a fortress, is in very poor structural condition due to years of neglected maintenance and is currently not open to the public because renovation work is ongoing.

Culture

The present-day brick Chapel of Saint John of Nepomuk in Komařice was built in the Neo-Romanesque style. It stands in the centre of Komařice’s village green, west of the municipal office. The year “MDCCCLXVII” is displayed on its façade. Since 1993, Mass has been celebrated in the chapel every year on 16 May.

Traditions

Masopust takes place every year in Komařice and Pašinovice on Saturday. The Masopust procession in Komařice is accompanied by a brass band playing the song “Červená růžičko”. The Masopust tradition includes the symbolic burial of Masopust on Tuesday.

Landscape

Komařice includes an extensive system of ponds that is still managed, although it is now owned by a different owner. Many chapels and crosses in the landscape surrounding Komařice are still maintained to this day.
