Culture and History
The Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary is a Gothic church dating from the mid-14th century and a protected historic monument. Inside, there is a stone baptismal font from 1515 and a rare late Gothic wooden statue of the Virgin Mary.
On the bridge on the main road in Štěpánovice, a coloured cast-iron statue of St John of Nepomuk stands on a brick pillar; it is classified as a protected cultural monument.
Routes and Nature
Štěpánovice lies on main road I/34, which connects České Budějovice and Třeboň. Cycle route number 1105 runs through the village. The signposted 81 km cycle route “Za pivem na Trhovosvinensku” also passes through Štěpánovice. A yellow-marked hiking route also runs through the village.
Štěpánovice is a good starting point for hikes and cycling tours, especially in the nearby Třeboňsko Protected Landscape Area.
Water, Sports and Traditions
Fishing is possible at Návesní rybník in Štěpánovice. The local Sokolovna is used for table tennis, badminton and floorball, as well as for other sporting and cultural events. The traditional church fair in Štěpánovice offered entertainment, music and food.
