Srubec: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

From the Srubec bus stop, the České Švýcary valley and České Švýcarsko pond can be reached on foot in less than 30 minutes via a red-marked hiking trail.

Cycling

The marked cycle route through the Novohradsko–Doudlebsko region includes a 17.6-kilometre stage from Srubec to Ostrolovský Újezd. The route runs along paved and unpaved paths; spring, summer and autumn are considered the best times to travel. The “Šlápněte do pedálů na Budějovicku” cycling programme also passes through Srubec on a 40-kilometre, three-hour, easy stage.

Hiking and Nature

An easy walk through the České Švýcary valley is suitable for families with children and for walking a dog; prams are not particularly recommended for this. The area around Srubec is suitable for hiking on marked and unmarked trails during the summer months. It is possible to pick mushrooms in the adjacent forests of Srubec.

One of the four ponds in Srubec is designated for fishing. When snow conditions are suitable, the area around Srubec is used for cross-country skiing in winter.

Culture and History

The monument to Robert W. Whitehead stands on Dobrovodská Street in Srubec, on a road in the municipality. It commemorates the pilot Robert W. Whitehead, who was shot down over Srubec on 11 April 1945, and was unveiled on 28 September 1945.

The monument to the victims of the First World War is located in Srubec at the intersection with Ledenická Street, by a pond in the centre of the village. It was unveiled in 1919 and created by the sculptor Edwin Schopenhauer.
