Roudné: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Roudné is a typical high medieval planned settlement village on the left bank of the Malše. Its medieval centre consisted of two rows of large farmsteads surrounding the village square. To this day, the village has preserved its almost intact settlement and architectural structure.

Culture and History

The ensemble of three niche chapels is designated as a cultural monument in Roudné. The three chapels were arranged in the 18th century as evidence of religious devotion. At the same time, the ensemble is considered an important example of high-quality Baroque architecture in South Bohemia. Roudné was first mentioned in 1411.

The connection across the Malše to Vidov is also part of the village’s history: the former half-timbered bridge was a cultural monument dating from 1892. The new bridge across the Malše to Vidov received the “Stavba roku 2010” award.

River Landscape on the Malše

The Malše shaped the surroundings of Roudné in a distinctive way even before the river was regulated. South of the village, it formed large meanders, while to the northwest it spread into a broad floodplain. Some of the sections of the Malše that were separated from the river at that time have been preserved.

Exploring by Bicycle

For cyclists, the Velešín–Roudné route runs from Velešín to Roudné. In addition, route no. 1018 provides a way from Roudné to reach the centre of České Budějovice.
