Planá U Českých Budějovic: Holiday apartments and holiday homes

The rectangular village square of Planá is characterized by the Chapel of the Most Holy Trinity. It was consecrated in 1908 and is the landmark of the square. At the same time, the village square preserves a traditional settlement structure: on its southern side are the angular floor plans of farmsteads No. 16, 17 and 18.

Culture and townscape

On the northern side of the village square there are predominantly houses with their gables facing the square, triangular gables and simple façades. This includes House No. 45, dated 1849, with its vaulted gateway. The mill in Planá became the largest building in the village.

History

The older building of Touškův mlýn is single-storey and features structural elements dating from before 1850. Touškův mlýn still houses a small hydroelectric power station today; as early as 1930, there was already a power station in the mill.

The Sad smíření, a park covering several hectares in Planá, is also part of the townscape. The local entrepreneur Petr Petrlík established the park at his own expense.

Landscape

Several named mountains lie in the wider regional surroundings of Planá: Skalka, Kleť, Borovanský vrch [Borovany-Dvorec u Třebče] and Mužský. Chlumany is also located in this wider regional area, a named geographical feature classified as an ancient site.

Cycling

The cycle path from Boršov nad Vltavou to Planá has been officially approved and can be used without restriction. The route is 3,500 metres long and has a 600-metre-long branch to Homole. There are several information boards along the cycle path.
