Village Character and History

Sedlec is one of nine historic Blata villages in the Zbudovské Blata area. A prehistoric settlement in Sedlec is considered the first of its kind in the Budějovice Basin; the recorded floor plans of the huts are also considered unique.

The cemetery in Sedlec is located on the site of a former fortress, of which only stone terraces remain. The cemetery is surrounded by a substantial moat. Also located in Sedlec is the Neo-Gothic Church of Saint John of Nepomuk, which was consecrated in 1868.

Folk Architecture

Plástovice was designated a village heritage reservation in 1995 and is considered one of the most valuable and best-known ensembles of folk architecture in Bohemia. The village preserves richly decorated folk architecture from the 1850s and 1860s. The large farmsteads are arranged around a T-shaped village square that is partially open to the south. The Chapel of the Holy Trinity has stood in the centre of Plástovice since 1840.

Cycling Routes

Plástovice lies at the intersection of two important cycling routes: one route leads from Zbudov via Vlhlavy further south, while the other runs from Netolice to Zliv. Cycling Route 1083 between Plástovice and Břehov also passes through Malé Chrášťany.

Surroundings

Malé Chrášťany is a village heritage reservation with preserved farmsteads. Outside the village stands the building of the extensive Čalounů Mill on the Soudný stream in the direction of Zbudov.

Transport

A scheduled bus service from České Budějovice to Sedlec runs as far as Malé Chrášťany.
