Nature and Water

On an island in the Velké Nákří pond is the only breeding area of the Eurasian spoonbill in the Czech Republic. Spoonbills have bred there regularly since 1991; in recent years, there have been three to four pairs of spoonbills (Platalea leucorodia).

The Velké Nákří pond covers 42.49 hectares and is less suitable for swimming. Its artificially created islands provide a habitat for birds; many greylag geese and other waterfowl currently breed there. Common and very rare water and marsh birds are frequently found in the area around Blatec and at other ornithological sites, including Nákří.

The Velký Luský pond covers 26.00 hectares and is suitable for swimming on the side locally known as “by the church.”

Views and Paths

A stone viewpoint on the path to Loma offers a view of Nákří and the entire surrounding area, including Šumava.

The Jakub Kubata Monument in the vicinity of Nákří is accessible year-round. It can be reached via a green-marked hiking trail from Zliv toward Zbudov, which is suitable for pedestrians and cyclists.

An old country road once led through Nákří from České Budějovice via Zaháj onward to Protivín and Písek.

The Mužský and Skalka mountains are located in the wider regional surroundings of Nákří. Mount Zdoba lies near Nákří. The hill Nad lesem [Dříteň-Záblatí] is located in the immediate vicinity.

Culture and History

The entire complex of the Church of St. Peter and Paul in Nákří is protected as a cultural monument. The Gothic church in Nákří, designed in the Baroque style, was extended with a front tower in 1774 and restored in 1897 while preserving older valuable structural elements.

The Church of Svatý Jan is located in the wider regional surroundings of Nákří.

Local Tradition

The traditional municipal fishing competition for the Nákeřský kapr and the ČEZ fish takes place at the Čekánek village pond in Nákří.
