Ponědrážka: Holiday apartments and houses

Ponědrážka lies in the flat landscape on the northern edge of the Třeboň Basin and has a historic village centre laid out in the Middle Ages. This centre includes a rectangular village green.

Villagescape and history

Ponědrážka was designated a village heritage zone because its ensemble of architecturally valuable buildings has been preserved and its still recognisable layout provides evidence of a medieval foundation. The Chapel of the Virgin Mary stands in the middle of the village green. It was restored in 1871 and features remarkable Stations of the Cross paintings. Ponědrážka also contains examples of more ornate Blata folk architecture.

Nature and protected habitats

The Hliníř–Ponědrážka Site of Community Importance protects dystrophic lakes and pools, transition mires and quaking bogs, as well as the habitat of the crested newt. A peat bog on the edge of a pond in this area serves as a refuge for important and protected plant and invertebrate species in the Třeboňsko landscape.

Ponds and waterways

The Ponědrážkovský Pond lies on the western edge of Ponědrážka. A branch of the Zlatá stoka supplies it with water along the southern edge of the village; along its western and northern banks, the Zlatá stoka flows around the pond. The numerous ponds and flooded sand pits around Ponědrážka provide opportunities for water sports and fishing.
