Klec: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Klec is located in a quiet part of the Třeboňsko Protected Landscape Area. The Nadějská pond group is particularly characteristic, a South Bohemian landscape within this protected area. It consists of 15 fishponds of varying sizes.

Landscape

South of Klec lie two extensive ponds, including Potěšil Pond. Between the ponds of the Nadějská pond group, paved paths run along the dams.

Culture and History

About 1.5 kilometers from the village of Klec, Oldřich z Ústí had a castle built between approximately 1395 and 1410; it is also sometimes referred to as a fortress. In 1435, it was conquered and burned down by the troops of Oldřich z Rožmberku. To this day, only terrain elevations in the form of ramparts and ditches, as well as a small fragment of wall, remain of the castle.

Klec is also home to the Chapel of Saint John of Nepomuk, a small monument of local significance.

Trails

At the end of Klec, the red-marked trail turns left at U Penzionu U Kačerů. It leads over the dams of Víra and Naděje ponds to the Naděje hiking signpost. The red-marked trail from Třeboň continues through Klec to the Nadějská pond group. The trail then runs over the dams of Překvapil, Nový and Krajina ponds, past the hamlet of U Nohavů, to the railway station in Vlkov.

Rybník Klec Pond can be reached via Road No. 148 from Lomnice nad Lužnicí in the direction of Novosedly nad Nežárkou.
