Nová Ves Nad Lužnicí: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Nová Ves nad Lužnicí is located in the Třeboňsko Protected Landscape Area, which is also a biosphere reserve designated under the UNESCO programme. The village combines protected river landscapes along the Lužnice with cycle paths, water tourism and remarkable evidence of regional history.

Natural Environment

The Horní Lužnice Nature Reserve also includes the cadastral territory of Nová Ves nad Lužnicí. It protects the natural course of the Lužnice and its floodplain, with a mosaic of various wetland and meadow communities. In the Czech Republic and Central Europe, Horní Lužnice is considered one of the last extensive areas of its kind.

The Krabonošská niva Nature Reserve also protects the natural course of the Lužnice and its floodplain. Its characteristic features include the relief and a mosaic of various wetland and meadow communities. The area serves as a refuge for numerous rare, endangered or otherwise significant species.

Water and Cycle Paths

The natural course of the Lužnice is navigable for experienced water tourists from Nová Ves nad Lužnicí onwards. The local history of water use includes the Neoclassical mill at the weir in Nová Ves nad Lužnicí, which now serves as a small hydroelectric power station.

Several routes pass through the village. Route 1013 runs from the junction in front of the bridge in Nová Ves nad Lužnicí to the railway station. Cycle Route 1 passes through Nová Ves nad Lužnicí and is part of a circular tour starting from České Velenice. Cycle Route 2 also runs through the village and continues to Třeboň.

Culture and History

One of the more significant architectural monuments in Nová Ves nad Lužnicí is the Chapel of Saint Anne. It is located directly in Nová Ves nad Lužnicí. In Krabonoš stands the Church of Saint John the Baptist, which was probably founded as early as the 13th century and is mentioned as a parish church in 1419. Inside, a transferred piece of medieval plaster with a fragment of a painting of Saint John the Baptist has been preserved.

The history of Krabonoš was also shaped by the political circumstances of the post-war period: in 1950, the village was incorporated into the military border area. Subsequently, almost all the buildings were demolished, and the settlement was merged with neighbouring Nová Ves nad Lužnicí.

Teichberg, Schindelberg, Machoberg and Hoher Berg are located in the vicinity of Nová Ves nad Lužnicí. Each of these named geographical features is registered as a mountain. Geyersteine is also located nearby; it is a named geographical feature registered as a monument.

Jägerkreuz and Lunkowitzkreuz are located in the immediate vicinity; both are named geographical features registered as wayside shrines. The European watershed is also located in the wider regional surroundings of Nová Ves nad Lužnicí; it is a named geographical feature registered as a monument.
