Mirkowitz: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes
Mirkowitz leads to a special historical trace: At the medieval gold-mining area near Mírkovice, boundary stones with incised crosses mark individual mining areas.
History
The origins of Mírkovice are thought to date back to the second half of the 13th century, around 1300. The village has a relatively regular settlement layout dating from the colonisation period, in the form of a short linear settlement along a road. Historic farmsteads include House No. 1, the oldest farm in Mírkovice, known as Řehoutovec. Řehoutovec includes a preserved barn; its construction is remarkable and reminiscent of an old fortress.
Farm No. 16 is also connected with the history of the village: It formerly also included an inn. In 1834, the farm was transferred to Anton Soukup, who is described as the great-grandfather of Egon Schiele.
Landscape
The gold-washing spoil-heap field near Mírkovice covers approximately 200 × 200 metres and is the largest in the immediate area. Gold-bearing spoil heaps from gold washing are found along the entire course of the Jílecký potok, formerly known as the “golden stream”.
Geographical Setting
The famous Golden Path from the Alps to Prachatice passed through Přídolí. There it divided towards České Budějovice and then continued through Zahrádka, Chabičovice, Svachova Lhotka and Černiče.
Svachova Lhotka is home to the 18-hole Golf Club Český Krumlov, also known as Svachovka; the village is located in the immediate vicinity of Český Krumlov.
