Subschitz: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Subschitz combines distinctive hills, traditional village structures, and paths with scenic views. Zubčice lies at the foot of the Poluška highlands, locally also known as Kuklíky, at an elevation of around 620 metres above sea level. Horní Háj Mountain lies on the northeastern slope of Zubčice; it reaches 739 metres above sea level and is the highest point in the municipality.

Nature

Hiking and cycling trails around Zubčice offer views of the village on the opposite mountain, Svatý Ján nad Malší. The local hiking and cycling trails also offer views of Včelíny, Kleť, and the horizon of the Blanský les.

Cycle Route 1199 Práčov–Velešín passes through Zubčice. In Práčov, it connects with the Vltava Cycle Route from Šumava to Mělník, which is part of the international EuroVelo 7 route.

History

The first written mention of Zubčice dates from 1358 and is associated with the Lords of Pořešín. Zubčice preserves the structure of a village founded around a circular village green, whose layout is still recognisable today. A wooden bell tower stands on the village green in Zubčice.

The grassy village green of Markvartice is surrounded by lime trees and large farmsteads, indicating the original circular layout of the green.

Culture

Markvartice is home to the Chapel of the Virgin Mary, built in 1873 and restored. It features a historicist style with Baroque and Neoclassical elements.

Pflégrův mlýn is a large farmstead on the Zubčický stream. It was built in 1867 by the miller Jan Pfleger (1816–1889). House No. 12 in Zubčice is listed as a cultural monument.

Leisure

The tennis courts of TJ Zubčice form a fenced tennis complex above the village, with changing rooms and a technical building, serving primarily recreational sports. The Zubčická lavina restaurant hosts entertainment evenings with live music in various genres.
