The first written mention of Žaltice dates back to 1315. The document from 1315 listed Žaltice together with Černice, Skřídla, Svince and Mojné as five villages in the administrative area of the Černice estate and in the basin of the Jílecký stream; the donated estate included gold mines and was bequeathed to the Cistercian monastery of Zlatá Koruna. Žaltice is also considered the oldest known settlement in the area of Mirkovice.

The landscape references are distributed across several distance levels: Horní Sosnovec [Mojné - Záhorkovice] is a hill in the vicinity of Žalčice, while Kleť is a mountain in the vicinity of Žalčice. The mountains Břevniště and Skalka are located in the wider regional surroundings of Žalčice; the ancient site of Chlumany is also located there. Roads III/15710 and III/15711 lead to Žaltice.
