Vyšný: Holiday apartments and holiday homes

The educational trail of the Vyšenské kopce National Nature Reserve begins in Vyšný, in front of the administration building of the Blanský les Protected Landscape Area. The 2.5 km-long trail is of medium difficulty and is intended exclusively for pedestrians. Before setting out on the educational trail, there is a local children's playground in Vyšný.

Nature

The Vyšenské kopce National Nature Reserve is considered the most valuable natural area in the Blanský les Protected Landscape Area. It protects communities of thermophilic plants and animals on limestone substrates and comprises meadows, shrubs and forests with a naturally composed range of species.

The Cvičák Nature Monument is located in the cadastral areas of Vyšný and Český Krumlov. It includes dry and mesic meadows as well as scattered trees and shrubs. The former motocross track in the nature monument is still used by cyclocross enthusiasts.

Trails and routes

The Granátník educational trail can be started in Český Krumlov, particularly in the Vyšný district. It can be reached on foot or by car; parking is available at the Nový Dvůr car park. The educational trail is 8.5 km long and has a low level of physical difficulty.

The Malý lazecko-vyšenský circuit is an easy, 14 km-long paved cycling loop. From the Vyšný district, it leads downhill via new hairpin bends to the sports complex.

A nature excursion by horse-drawn carriage leads through Lazec, Vyšný, Český Krumlov and Dobrkovice; refreshments in the carriage or a stop with a picnic are possible.

History and traces

At the end of the walking trail to the Vyšenské kopce, pits from graphite mining are still visible on the outskirts of Český Krumlov near the Vyšný residential area. After 1945, an 11 m-deep exploratory adit, shaft no. 42, was created on the western slope of Liščí hora in the Cvičák Nature Monument to investigate a graphite deposit; today it has been filled in and the area is secured with a wooden fence and information panels. The first written mention of the village of Vyšný dates from 1272.
