Hradiště u Libětic is situated on a distinctive ridge above the Volyňka River. Its summit plateau was fortified as early as the older Iron Age and later became the acropolis of the hillfort.

The village square chapel in Libětice is a compact, simple chapel with a roof lantern serving as a bell tower. Together with a stone cross, it forms a unified feature and belongs to the small-scale sacred architectural elements whose protection is subject to conditions set out in the land-use plan. South of Libětice, in the Nad Liběticemi fields, there are also wayside shrines (Boží muka).

Routes to Hradiště

The approach to Hradiště u Libětic begins at the church in Libětice and leads south. It continues along a field track to the forest. The final section leaves the track and climbs uphill through the forest northeast to the summit of the hill.

Cycling

Cycle route Trasa 2A is 18 km long and has an elevation gain of 182 metres. It passes through Drachkov, Sousedovice, Libětice, Švejcarova Lhota, Kraselov and Smiradice, returning to Drachkov via Sousedovice.

From Libětice, Trasa 2A heads towards Úlehle without reaching the village. On the more challenging climb, it is possible to take a detour along the yellow-marked hiking trail to Kbíl. The final 150 m are very challenging and suitable for experienced mountain bikers.

Trails and Views

The Kbíl lookout tower is 42 m high overall and has an observation platform at a height of 27 m. From there, the view extends over Strakonice, the Šumava Mountains, Boubín, Bobík, Libín, Kleť, the Brdy Mountains and Temelín.

The Kbíl lookout tower can be reached via the yellow-marked hiking trail that crosses the road from Libětice to Úlehle south of Strakonice. Alternatively, the route from Švejcarova Lhota leads to the trail junction on the edge of the village, and from there approximately 1 km along the yellow trail to the tower.
