Krajníčko: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Helfenburk is located in the cadastral area of Krajníčko, about 2 km southwest of the village. The well-preserved castle ruin on a rocky cliff at an elevation of approximately 680 m above sea level has been protected as a cultural monument since 1963. Helfenburk is also located in the cadastral area of the municipality of Krajníčko.

Culture and History

The first written mention of Krajníčko dates back to 1334. The village belonged to the Helfenburk estate; the history of this estate is considered part of the history of Krajníčko.

A Neo-Gothic chapel stands on the village square and was reconsecrated after a gradual reconstruction. A pilgrimage mass is held in May in the Chapel of Saint John of Nepomuk.

Traditions and Events

Krajníčko organizes a traditional New Year’s hike to Helfenburk Castle, starting at the municipal office. The traditional Stavění máje, the raising of the maypole, takes place on the grounds of the outdoor swimming pool in Krajníčko.

At Řízkobraní 2026, schnitzels and meatballs made from venison, wild boar, fallow deer, red deer, chicken, fish, and pork were offered. Trails and Leisure

Helfenburk can be reached via a blue-marked hiking trail from the road between Volyně and Bavorov or directly from Bavorov. A red-marked trail also leads there from Husinec.

The Krajníčko sports and recreation area is located on the outskirts of the village in the direction of the Helfenburk castle ruin. The nohejbal court in the area is intended exclusively for recreational sports.

Route No. 1112 runs from Helfenburk through Krajníčko to Bavorov. The route runs from Helfenburk via Krajníčko, Měkynec, Záluží, and Radějovice and back.
