Hoslovice: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Hoslovice is home to the Vodní mlýn Hoslovice water mill complex. It consists of a mill with living quarters, stables with sheds, and a barn; in June 2008, the complex was declared a national cultural monument.

Culture

At the water mill complex, visitors can see preserved, functioning milling equipment, a pantry, a log room, a living room with a stove and tiled stove, as well as various types of agricultural equipment. Hoslovice is also home to the Chapel of St. Wenceslas, a listed late Baroque chapel dating from the second half of the 18th century.

The permanent exhibition “From the Life of the Šumava Podlesí” focuses on rural life, agricultural work, the cultivation and processing of crops, and livestock farming. It also covers traditional regional dishes, the storage and preparation of food, and customs throughout the year.

Regular events at the Vodní mlýn Hoslovice water mill include children’s programmes, demonstrations of the mill wheel in operation, and demonstrations of traditional craft techniques. These are complemented by tastings of traditional dishes and freshly baked bread. The Wenceslas fair is also celebrated in Hoslovice.

Landscape

A telecommunications tower with an observation platform was built near Hoslovice in 2005. The observation platform offers panoramic views of the Šumava peaks, Horažďovicko, and Strakonicko.

The mountains Sedlo [Sušice-Albrechtice], Vysoký, and Popelná hora are located around Hoslovice. The wider surrounding region is also home to the Radomysl Mediumwave Radio Mast ruin and Kamenná hora.
