Libějovice: Holiday Apartments and Houses
In the regional context of Libějovicko-Lomecko lies a Baroque-designed cultural landscape. Its design incorporates, among other sites, Nový zámek, Starý zámek and Nový Dvůr. Nový Dvůr was built under the Rosenbergs between 1587 and 1590.
Culture
Starý zámek is a picturesque Renaissance building from the mid-16th century. Its triple entrance gate features a still-preserved Gothic-vaulted passageway. The building is privately owned and not open to the public.
Nový zámek is a massive, elongated late Empire-style building surrounded by lush parkland. Construction began in 1696 and was completed rapidly between 1747 and 1754. Nový zámek is also not open to the public.
Pilgrimage
The Libějovická lime-tree avenue, consisting predominantly of linden trees, lines the old road connecting the pilgrimage chapel of svatá Máří, Nový zámek in Libějovice and the Lomec pilgrimage centre in the Strakonice District. A blue-marked hiking trail and the Julia Zeyer Path run through the avenue. In 2008, it received the title “Hero Tree”.
The pilgrimage church of the Name of the Virgin Mary in Lomec was built between 1699 and 1704 by Count Buquoy for a miraculous statue of the Virgin Mary with the Infant Jesus. It is considered an important work of the High Baroque in Central Europe and is open daily, allowing visitors to see its interior.
Poutní dům Lomec offers individuals and groups overnight accommodation in single and twin rooms.
