Havlickuv Brod: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes
Havlíčkův Brod combines striking buildings, exhibitions, historic churches and an extensive park with cultural events and a versatile outdoor swimming complex.
Culture and Urban History
The Stará radnice holds the title of “National Cultural Monument”. During opening hours, visitors have free access to the historical exhibition dedicated to the town’s history.
Havlíčkův dům is a late Gothic building with a preserved barrel vault and Gothic cellars. The house contains museum exhibitions on Karel Havlíček Borovský – his life and legacy – and on Panuška’s supernatural creatures.
The historic buildings also include Štáflova chalupa, a late medieval house in Havlíčkův Brod. It is associated with the Štáfl artist family and with the town’s historic architecture. Štáflova bašta is a corner tower of the town fortifications; it houses a permanent exhibition about the town’s important son, Otakar Štáfl. From June to September, Štáflova bašta can be visited as part of guided tours with commentary offered by the Havlíčkův Brod Tourist Information Centre.
Churches and Collections
The Baroque Church of svatá Rodina was built from 1679 to 1733 near an Augustinian monastery. Concerts, weddings and other cultural events take place there.
In the Church of svatého Vojtěcha, a stone tombstone was discovered in 2000 that is considered the oldest known inscribed monument in Havlíčkův Brod. The church’s current appearance dates back to a renovation at the end of the 16th century and combines a Renaissance barrel vault with Gothic forms.
The Vysočina Gallery and Museum in Havlíčkův Brod present cultural heritage primarily in the fields of fine art, history and ethnography.
Park and Swimming Complex
Budoucnost Park covers approximately 25 hectares and includes a cascade of ponds and small pools in the natural valley of the Cihlářský potok. The free-standing Church of Nejsvětější Trojice with its hexagonal central structure stands in the southern part of the town park.
The outdoor swimming complex in Havlíčkův Brod has a lap-swimming pool and a relaxation pool with a current channel, water bubbler jets, massage jets, slides and a children’s paddling pool.
