Habří combines historic buildings with a landscape whose character can be seen in the village and its immediate surroundings.

Culture and History

An old fortress dating from the 15th century stands in Habří’s village square. The former fortress has preserved vaulted rooms in the basement and ground floor. The Tvrz fortress complex was originally a Renaissance fortress and was later remodelled in the Baroque and Neoclassical styles. Its residential building is a two-storey structure with a hipped roof.

The former brewery is directly adjacent to the restored fortress complex. Painted sundials can be found on its wall next to the fortress. The history of the village also includes the Chapel of Saint John of Nepomuk, which was built by local residents in 1867. It is a brick, Neo-Romanesque chapel with a rectangular floor plan and a three-sided apse.

About 1 kilometre west of Habří lies the ruin of the Church of Saint Vitus in a natural valley. Wooden benches and tables at the ruin provide a place to rest or enjoy a picnic. A Chapel of Saint Vitus was added beside the church ruin at the end of the 19th century. A stone wall with three windows topped by pointed arches has survived from the church. It was founded in 1644 near a pilgrimage site and a miraculous spring.

Annual pilgrimages take place at the Chapel of the Holy Trinity in Habří. The chapel was consecrated on 16 May 1892.

Landscape

Habří lies in the Blanský les Protected Landscape Area. Forest covers the western part of Habří’s cadastral area.

The nearby area includes Skalka Mountain and Lipí Hill. The mountains of Kleť and Vrata are also located in the surroundings of Habří. The ancient site of Chlumany lies in the wider regional surroundings of Habří.
