The Plavské rechle are an iron pedestrian bridge on tall stone pillars, built on the Malše in 1895–1896. They were declared a cultural monument in 2007.
Culture and History
Another cultural and historical landmark is the statue of Saint John of Nepomuk in Kobylinec. It stands on a high rock above the Malše and was created in 1882 to commemorate averted flooding. This statue has also been a cultural monument since 2006.
At the western edge of Plav stands rural farm complex No. 3. The four-winged farmstead is an important urban-planning element of the municipality. The Plav burial mound site also forms part of the older history of the village: it lies on a low rise by the Malše and comprises around 35 burial mounds, which reach up to 2 metres in height at the western end.
The former brewing tradition has also been passed down. Beer was brewed in Plav from 1400 until the 16th century; this led to numerous disputes with the citizens of České Budějovice.
Cycling Route along the Malše
The Velešín–Roudné cycling route leads through a meander of the Malše to the Plavské rechle. On a path above Plav, cyclists have to push their bicycles to a viewpoint at the statue of Saint John of Nepomuk.
