Dolní Hořice: Holiday Apartments and Houses

Geological and historical traces meet at Pacova hora. It lies in the cadastral area of Dolní Hořice. A large quarry on its southern slope reveals alternating layers of fine-grained to dense white dolomitic limestone and amphibolite. In 1848, the first actual lime kiln was built at Pacova hora by princely authorities.

Landscape

The Hartvíkov district of the municipality of Dolní Hořice lies in Polánka Nature Park, amid the wooded landscape of the Křemešnická vrchovina highlands. The mountain “K Doubravě” [Radenín-Bítov] is located in the vicinity of Dolní Hořice. The mountains of Cetoraz, Vrchy and Hora are also located in the surrounding area.

Nature and Trails

Chýnovská Cave is the oldest cave opened to the public and also one of the largest caves in the Czech Republic. It is open to the public without access restrictions and can be reached by car to within 250 metres. The Chýnovská educational trail ends at a viewpoint overlooking the quarry at Pacova hora in Dolní Hořice, above Chýnovská Cave.

Culture

The Neo-Romanesque Church of Saints Peter and Paul, dating from 1886–1887, stands in the Hartvíkov district of the municipality of Dolní Hořice. In Pořín, the ceramics workshop is open to everyone interested in crafts.

The Church of Saint Anne is located in the vicinity of Dolní Hořice. In the wider regional area around Dolní Hořice are the Church of Saint John, Želivský Kláštor Monastery and the Church of Saint Anne.
