Chvalovice U Netolic: Vacation Apartments and Holiday Homes

The Skalka and Vrata mountains lie around Chvalovice; in the wider regional area are Rohanovský vrch, Libín, and the ancient archaeological site of Chlumany. There are also two named cycling connections, as well as surviving traces of mining and architectural history.

Cycling

The “Netolice and Back” cycling loop passes through Chvalovice and then continues via Babice back to Netolice. Chvalovice is also stop 13 on the “Through the Foothills of the Blanský Forest to Holašovice” route.

Culture and History

In the former mining area “V louchu” and in a wooded area in Chvalovice, concrete foundations, protruding iron bolts and metal bands, as well as terrain depressions created by spoil heaps, have been preserved. Flake graphite of the highest quality was mined in the Chvalovice graphite mines to a depth of 115 meters.

Farmhouse No. 2 in Chvalovice is a solid timber building with an attached masonry gable at the front and clay plaster on the side; it may be the original monastery farmstead. Some houses in Chvalovice have hipped roofs with half-hipped gables, which are interpreted in the region as remnants of Rožmberk Gothic.

The niche chapel of unknown dedication near Chvalovice is a plastered masonry structure that probably dates from the 19th century or from around the turn of the 20th century.
